Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas!!! Wherever you’re reading this from, however you celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas day with family and friends. What are your traditions? Is it a 6am race to see what’s under the tree or do you take the privilege to snooze until you desire? What does dinner look like? Roast done right, a summer barbecue perhaps or a cosy gathering with the fire crackling? I absolutely love that a holiday with so much tradition can mean so many different things to each of us!

After spending Christmas Eve wrapping presents, writing in cards and baking cookies (all while watching Michael Buble’s Christmas special of course) I woke up around 9am. For all the planning and prepping, our actual Christmas day was pretty relaxed. After preparing this brussel sprout, pinenut and cherry salad – recipe by Blissful Basil – which I found on Pinterest – (I replaced pomegranate seeds for cherries as I couldn’t find any frozen in the supermarket)

I slipped into my Christmas outfit – this bellow sleeved, cropped black top from Rosebullet is so flattering and stylish but so comfy! and the gold and black checkered shorts are perfectly designed for a Christmas feast with an elasticated waist!

I kept hair and makeup simple with a slight bold lip, wearing ‘Twig’ by MAC. The afternoon was spent enjoying a festive lunch at my Grandma’s house with herself, my auntie and her husband and my mum. We exchanged good chit chat, a few laughs and gifts. A cosy evening in, watching Christmas movies and I was already falling asleep on the couch by 7pm.

Family from Sydney are arriving Boxing day so the rest of the week is consisting of lots of fun outings including a trip to the zoo and the Barossa Valley, dinners out, and for myself, back to work with the puppies. What does the rest of 2017 look like for you? As always I’d love to hear in the comments!

I only started my blogging journey in July but it has made 2017 so exciting and fullfilled! Thankyou to everyone for the support, for those talented individuals I’ve worked with and to YOU for reading this! I can’t wait to jump right into 2018 and continue to grow and better ! Until then, much love,

Stocking Fillers 2017

Honestly how is it even Christmas next week? This month has literally had every spanner thrown into the works. Count the puppysitting job and housesitting before that, shooting the last of this year’s photoshoots and blog content, wisdom tooth coming through and throwing my back out – that’s a chaos of another story – and now all that’s left to count is the number of days before Christmas! If your stress dial is turned right up like mine is and you’re still shopping for the holidays, here’s a round up of small but thoughtful gifts for your soon-to-be-filled stockings.

I think phone cases are the perfect stocking filler. They’re practical and great for that little extra something. With how much our phones are glued to our hands these days, they’re more so an accessory, so a stylish design is a must. Olivia & co offer all that and more. Backpacks, purses, cardholders, phonecases and more in a range of desireable pinks, blacks, nudes and neautrals made in luxury leather and personally monogrammed for that special touch. With Afterpay available too, I can’t wait to get my hands on these beauties!

Drizzy, Yeezy, Biggie, oh my! Greylinesau is absolute slogan goals! Tees, hoodies, hats, clutches, shoes, you name it, they’ve got it and they’ve stuck a sick slogan on it too; that’s why my cart has been ready to checkout for absolutely forever, I can’t choose! My current wishlist items though are the ‘For the Love of Yeezus‘ denim jacket, ‘Yeezy for President‘ tee and the ‘Drake Feelings, Kanye Attitude‘ orange tee. Buying for more of a Kardashian Klan or perhaps the Wizarding World is more the scene? There’s something for everyone. Seriously. Oh an Afterpay is available. You’re welcome.

Lush Christmas products really are just a tradition now aren’t they? Waiting for the annual range to hit stores is a countdown in itself! My latest Lush crush is the Lush Santa body wash; I’ll let the experts let you in on this little secret.

Fizz open this sweet and spicy shower cream for a cleanse worthy of Santa Claus. Breath in familiar cola scent and get your bubble back!

King Kylie, I swear this young woman can do no wrong! There is no doubt that anything and everything from her latest holiday collections would sit pretty in the stocking. My eyes are sparkling for the ‘Wet Set’ highlight pallet and the brushes from the Silver collection.

Last but most certainly not least, I have to highlight the amazing products by Rodan+Fields! R+F is the number 1 selling skincare company in the US under all categories including anti ageing, acne, and premium skincare brands. The products were developed by two Stanford trained dermatologists, who are also the makers of the world renown brand Proactive. The doctors are currently practicing medicine in the Bay Area of California and have a 2-3 year waiting list for patients.

Rodan+Fields products are clinical grade products and the closest thing you can get to healing your skin without having to see a dermatologist for a prescription; and specialise in anti ageing, acne treatment, sensitive skin issues and sun damage.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

As I’m writing this, there are only six sleeps until Christmas! We say it every year, but honestly, where has the time gone?! Christmas really is the most wonderful time of year, it’s also the busiest and most stressful! As a child, the magic of Christmas was created by Santa and his Elves. The biggest responsibility was writing your list (and checking it twice!) and making sure there were milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Yes well, Santa and his Elves are in fact your stressed parents run off their feet planning the perfect Christmas!

I don’t have children, but I am a twenty two year old woman living on their own and the tree is not going to put itself up nor are the cookies going to bake themselves! Even when Santa leaves your childhood though, the magic will always remain.

Working to look after the puppies, I’ve been enjoying a festive household since the end of November. First came the bon bons (Christmas crackers), the candycanes, decorations and stockings; then before December first was even upon us, an 8ft real fresh pine Christmas tree was in the living room. Decorated with shiny baubles, custom made ones with the dog’s names on them and encircled with gifts.

Not that I needed any encouragement, but now I was excited more than ever for Christmas and to create the same festiveness in my home. By December sixth the tree was up and decorated, my bedspread was Christmasy, lights were twinkling, I’d watched more than a few Christmas movies – be sure to read my last Blogmas post, My top 10 Christmas movies – and Michael Buble’s Christmas album was on repeat (oh and I’ve already devoured a Gummi lolly Christmas stocking)

The  city is alight with the holiday season and I’m officially counting down the sleeps! If you’re anything like me and leave things to the last minute, look out for my stocking fillers and holiday gift guide posts coming oh so soon for gift ideas and also some tasty Christmas recipes to bring to any holiday gathering.

Top 10 Christmas Movies

elf will farrell

To say this is the busy season is an understatement! Between working on upcoming projects (soon to be revealed) looking after the puppies still and just general Christmas prepping, things have been non stop! The sound of Santa’s sleigh will be here before we know it! Today’s post is a simple shoutout to my top 10 favourite Christmas movies! Did yours make the list?

1. I’ll be home for Christmas

ill be home for christmas

I honestly don’t know what it as about this movie, but I absolutely loved it as a kid! I was only 3 when it came out and have no idea when I first watched it but one time was all it took! It’s handsdown my most watched favourite Christmas movie and I don’t think any other could take top spot! Shoutout to young nineties Jessica Biel too!

Estranged from his father (Gary Cole), college student Jake (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) is lured home to New York for Christmas with the promise of receiving a classic Porsche as a gift. When the bullying football team dumps him in the desert in a Santa suit, Jake is left without identification or money to help him make the journey. Meanwhile, his girlfriend, Allie (Jessica Biel), does not know where he is, and accepts a cross-country ride from Jake’s rival, Eddie (Adam LaVorgna).

2. Elf

For so long I was never a huge Will Ferrell fan, his humour was just not my kind of entertainment. One movie slowly followed by another, and another, and I eventually came around. Stepbrothers, Anchorman, Get hard and of course Elf had me converted!

3. The Grinch

I think the Grinch has got to be on everyone’s Christmas movie list! Especially watching it at an older age, I’m one of many to understand that the Grinch didn’t hate Christmas, he hated the town’s people. Finding comfort in his own company, sheltered by judgement and those who simply didn’t understand him. Who knew Dr. Seuss created such a relatable character!

4. Home Alone

Oh Kevin! Picked on and misunderstood; after being forgotten and left to fend for himself while his family are on holiday, this little fella provides a laugh a minute. I must shamefully admit though, I’ve only seen the first in this Christmas movie series.

5. Love Actually

Love Actually… it speaks for itself really. A festive rom-com with one of the best casts ever! R.I.P Alan Rickman ;(  Hugh Grant as priminister is perfect and let’s not forget Colin now, god of sex, poor thing was just on the wrong Continent! Hahaha. It is an absolute tradition now to watch it every Christmas.

6. The Holiday

The Holiday has to of course follow Love Actually, they go hand in hand really. I must admit, I haven’t watched it nearly as many times as some of my other favourites but I still love it! I love the plot and although predictable, it’s still an amazing movie (and, well, I would have watched it regardless just for Jude Law)

7. Fred Claus

I’ve only actually seen Fred Claus once I think. My school class all went to dinner and to see this movie for our year 7 graduation. I had no idea it was a Christmas movie – or that Vince Vaughn was the male lead; he’s absolutely my favourite actor – it wasn’t even until we started watching the movie that the title was spelt CLAUS not CLAWS. There I was, 12, preparing myself for a scary movie, I can’t stand them, even 10 years later!

Of the two Claus brothers, Fred (Vince Vaughn) is the troublemaker and polar opposite of his saintly sibling, Nicholas (Paul Giamatti). When Fred’s criminal ways finally land him in big trouble, Nicholas bails him out and brings him to the North Pole to work off the debt by making toys. The headaches mount for St. Nick, who not only must deal with his troublemaking brother, but also an efficiency expert who has come to evaluate Santa’s operation.

8. Four Holidays (Christmas’s)

It’s a fun, lighthearted family Christmas holiday movie. Again, I’ve only seen it once or twice, but it of course made the cut being another work of Vince Vaughn!

When their plans for an exotic vacation fall apart, unmarried couple Brad (Vince Vaughn) and Kate (Reese Witherspoon) must spend Christmas Day trudging around to a quartet of family get-togethers. While Brad counts the hours till he can escape the onslaught of crazy relatives, Kate begins to wonder about her own choices and ponders whether her family members are so crazy after all.

9. 12 Dates of Christmas

It’s every bit cheesy, predictable and laughable as it is sweet, fun and so bad it’s good! I stumbled across this last year channel surfing while I wrapped presents and found myself getting way too distracted watching it!

. A story that follows Kate, a young woman who after a horrible blind date on Christmas Eve, wakes up to find she is re-living that same day and date all over again.

10: Love at the Christmas Table

Again, I wouldn’t quite call this one a blockbuster movie but what I thought was another typical movie of how the he realises at Christmas time that she’s the one and rushes to tell her he’s in love, turned out to be better than I thought with a little twist I didn’t predict. Definitely worth a watch, oh and Luke from Gilmore Girls is in it!! Surely I’ve convinced you now!

In this unusual Christmas romance story, spanning nearly 30 years and set over 14 non-consecutive Christmas Eve evenings, Kat Patton and Sam Reed are best friends whose fathers run a furniture making business in a small Illinois town. Every Christmas Eve, Sam’s parents and Kat’s widowed father gather with other employees and their families at Elissa Beth’s house for their annual Christmas Eve dinner and every year Sam and Kat sit at the children’s table. Each year, Kat and Sam grow close, then apart, and closer again as their different careers, views on life, and paths make them different to the changing world. After a five-year absence of not attending any Christmas Eve parties after a falling out with Kat, Sam decides to try to tell her about his feelings for her, but he only had one time to do so and will he make the right choice?

What are your favourite Christmas movies you love to watch to put you in the festive mood? Let me know in the comments.

Holiday Lookbook 2017

Well the wait is officially over! Today marks the first day of Summer, despite yesterday being a scorching 37 Degrees c and today a mere 15. More importantly it’s the first day of December, which means the Christmas countdown has well and truly begun!! Although I have only been in the blogging game for a bit over 4 months I really wanted to put myself to the Blogmas challenge! Originally I had planned to blog 12 days straight, however as of last week my schedule has gone a little haywire to say the least.

I’ve recently taken on a temp job (6 weeks) house/puppy sitting. The puppies are absolutely gorgeous and getting paid to cuddle these little furry friends isn’t the worst thing in the world… the hours and sleep routine is another story though. I’m meant to be working 12hrs over night, 7 days a week which is already a lot but have had a few unexpected nights that turn into days and nights again and then early afternoon before I’m relieved of my duties. When the little ones have to feed every 2 hours and have their business cleaned up, towels changed and mums fed too in between that, sleep is more just resting my eyes for an hr or so at a time, so finding the time to write let alone having a fresh mind for it is becoming a bit of a challenge.

I still promise a jam packed month of festive posts, but whether they are every single day straight is another question so please bear with me!!! Enough of my rambling though. Without further ado, blogmas day 1: !!!!!

A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of working with Trish Cannon and Jana Dixon to create my first Holiday Lookbook! The festive season is well and truly upon us and with that comes a full social calendar! From end of year work events to catching up with friends for drinks, dinner and all ’round laughs; family occasions and of course Christmas day itself. These 3 looks should have you covered with what to wear during the holiday season.

This gorgeous navy and pink floral printed playsuit is perfect for any party event. With an intricate strap design, it leaves just enough to the imagination. This all year ’round pattern is a great option for a night out on the town!

For those end of year office parties or a casual drink at the bar, this outfit is the perfect mix of structure and sparkles. These black wax skinny jeans literally fit like a glove! They accentuate and slim all the right places and give the illusion of long legs! Despite being rather figure hugging, they’re surprisingly very comfortable with a givingly stretchy fabric.

This gorgeously subtle gold sequined tank top is an absolute treasure I’ve work lovingly for almost five years!  – I used here in this photoshoot from my styling days way back in 2012! –

It’s by the label Sugar and Spice, but I picked it up at the store opening for Ravvel Boutique.

It was love at first sight when I saw this black chiffon frill playsuit on the window mannequin in Miss & She boutique. With it’s flirty hemline, dainty floral features and a contrastingly bold neckline, I knew I had to have it! I’ve worn it everywhere since, from town to an awards night dinner and even Christmas day last year. Being black, it’s so versatile and to say I’m getting it’s wear’s worth is an understatement.

I’ve worn my San Sebastion Heels from Rubi – $39.95, which I featured in my ‘Earn your stripes’ post and again provides great versatility in it’s simple yet classy pinky pearl design.

Lastly, I can’t go without mentioning my beautiful personalised gold bar necklace! I was very kindly gifted this from Ineffables Jewellery not too long ago, and have been wearing it religiously since. A custom made trinket, I thought my holiday lookbook would be the perfect light to showcase this piece. A little personalised something goes a long way and makes the perfect gift for someone special, or to treat yourself this Christmas. This is just one of the many beautiful offerings from Ineffables! Head over to their website to shop the range now! All pieces are made with precious metals including rose gold, sterling silver and 18k gold. Amazing sales on these beauties are available now, so add some sparkle to your cart and shop now!

I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to work with these ladies again, so look out for my Summer lookbook coming very soon, created by this very same dream team!
